bioarchaeologist, food educator, speaker, writer.
Dr. Keitlyn Alcántara is an anthropologist interested in the ways our bodies and lived experiences have been shaped by interactions that extend centuries into the past. A Mexican-American with a nomadic childhood, she explores how foodways carry memories and values into new contexts, both in the archaeological past, and within our contemporary diasporic world. She believes in challenging power hierarchies that value academic experts above community knowledge keepers, and works to equitably meld academic research and community interests to create impactful social change.
